Quickie ...rrrawr

Things are def looking up for me right now. I got a PT job, so I'm going back to the semi-corporate world, haha. Interviewed Mon, got it that evening, started training today. I have a good feeling about this place, so far so good. Best of all, I can't wait to get back on my feet financially! Whew, it has def been rough. More on that later, I need to get to bed it's almost midnight and I have to be up at 615iiiiish :D

Also I'm suuuuuper excited about my new purchase.... TADAH!

I've never had rain boots before, and I've been wanting to get some for a long while now ... saw these babies yesterday for 19.99, tonight they were 14.70, I took it as a sign ;) --- My only wish is that they were eco-friendly, but alas ... well I also wish they fit like a glove, bought a size larger just in case.

Okay I'm off to dreamland, and finally waking up w/ the rest of the world *sigh* ... no, no it's good... except for the subzero weather we're going to get. BRRR.

The troubles...

I mentioned how I haven't been working, because of my sprain wrist... well that also means I haven't really been using my car as much. Needless to say in the winter time if you don't turn on your car often, the battery dies. It already happened once before when I was leaving for my girl's night.... the temps that week were well below zero. These last weeks though haven't been so bad, but yet again I forgot to turn on my car every other day or so. The problem this time was that when I tried to give it a jump w/ mama's car, nothing happened. So how is it that when the brudder come to jump it, it starts within 5mins?! Oh trust me I'm VERY grateful that it's isn't more serious, because money is super tight, but how in the world do I jump a car wrong?! That's just annoying. I'm in denial anyway, I just think mama's car is weak, and that's why it didn't work. Haha. :P

Sat night, I went over to my friend's for dinner, wine, and movie night. We saw 'Sweet November' LOL ... yes, I wanted a better look at my shawl, but she and her friend hadn't seen it so I wasn't purely selfish about suggesting she rent that one! :P Anyway, we had a great dinner, I even stayed to watch Wanted again (under the covers for the rat scene of course *shivers*). Sunday I discovered that I'm compltely out of practice with the drinking because I only had 3 glasses of wine, and woke up w/ a terrible headache. Wine headaches, ugh ... they're the worst! It probably didn't help that I stayed up until 5a talking to my friend, listening to music, and knitting. Still, all of Sun I was crabby. I almost forgot that I had a post-holiday party to go to, then I remembered I didn't have a working car, greeeeat. Sadly, as much as I miss my 'Tsubos', I just really didn't want to go. :(

Awful of me I know, but it was the perfect excuse, and instead I had dinner w/ the mama, brudder, and niece ... then the brudder disregarded my crabbiness and offered to jump my car even though I was being a bitch about it. *le sigh* I guess I will always want to get the "boys' job" done myself, to prove that I can, and then get pissy when I don't get it right. So childish of me, I know, but I'm pretty sure subconsciously I'm still looking to get big brother's approval somehow.... which is dumb because I already know he's proud of me. The mind is strange that way though.

Shawl, oh shawl...

Damn! I forgot to update my bloggy when I finished my lovely rasta/beret hat! (Thanks to the lovely Teresa yet again) Okay well it's amazing and I love it, and I can't believe I actually crocheted it myself. Go me!!

I've pretty much worn it everyday since I made it, lol. It's awesome when I don't wanna do anything to my hair, which is pretty much everyday, lol ... I'm so low maintanace, my hair stylists friends get annoyed w/ me. They give me this great looking cut, and the next day I come in and my hair is up, but come on I can't work w/ my hair down. I'd be sweating on my clients, and that is gross.

Anywhooo .... my new WIP (work in progress) is the shawl that started it all, which I mentioned in a previous entry, lol. I have undone my work SO many times I've already lost count. The one I had pretty much done halfway and stopped I had to undo (probably not the right crochet terminology, but whatevs I'm new at this) because both mama and I could not figure out where to go from there. I rummaged through tons of patterns online looking for the one. There was only one person that had the pattern for a similar shawl from 'Sweet Novemer' but I just wasn't sure it was loose enough for me. Finally I settled on a lover's knot shawl, which was great, looked pretty until I realized it wasn't going to be a triangle. O.o *le sigh* So new mission, found a triangle lover's knot shawl, yay ... somehow figured out the pattern (did I mention I'm not great at reading patterns? haha) and started my shawl. Probably two days into it I realize that it's going to be WAY too long. The point of the triangle is not past my butt, and the shoulders isn't long enough. Greeeeat. I worked on it too long to undo it though, I just don't have the heart, lol. So I put it aside and grab different yarn and start working on the Sweet February shawl I had found before ... it's cute, but not really want I pictured in my head for this one. I will probably make that one later though, as well as the rectangle loverl's knot one. More searching through patterns..... I finally think that maybe I just need to figure out how to knit one. The knitted shawls look more like what I wanted, so now I just need to learn how to read the pattern. So I find THIS one, which is just what I wanted. The pattern look simpled enough, I just have no idea what k2tog means, but YouTube.com to the rescue!

I've been working on it since Sat night, I'm at 62 stitches (should be 146 total) now, and it looks awesome. I'm not really sure if it really will turn out, but it's looking good so far, so maybe this is the winner after all. I can't wait! I've waited way too long for my shawl. We will see. I'm really excited that I figured out a knitted pattern too, I mean it's super simple, but still. :)
